I'm out in Hollywood this Weekend

've been out in Hollywood all weekend at my friend Jim Hubbard's American Film Renaissance Festival. The name for the festival was inspired by a book I wrote a few years back entitled Jollyroger.com: Navigating an American Renaissance.

The weekend has rocked. I also met with a video game team I'll be building a backend system with, based on Open Source technologies.

One of the great things about Hollywood is that it always needs new ideas. The box-office is an ever-shifting marketplace, so if you put you heart and soul into it, you've got as good a chance as the next guy. And couple this with the decentralization of production and distribution that is a natural result of technology's steady march, and now more than ever you too can become an artistic entrepreneur. Jim Hubbard started with little more than an idea two years ago, and this past weekend he pulled off a film festival in the heart of Hollywood. More soon!
